Are computer component wholesalers significantly cheaper than newegg.com?

I’m interested in possibly purchasing computer components and operating systems at wholesale prices from dealers like Ma Labs, ASI-Corp, Ingram-Micro, etc., for the purpose of building and selling PCs.

So, for example, I can get a copy of Windows XP Pro for about a $140 (for system builders) at newegg.com. Or I can get the latest AMD Phenom II X4 CPU for 230$.

How do these prices compare to those of wholesalers? Do the wholesalers generally require bulk purchases? If so, what’s an example of a minimum number of, say, CPUs I could buy? 10, 20, 500?

Or is this privileged information that resellers have to promise never to leak out? (If so, I understand).

(I just don’t feel like actually getting a sales-tax ID from my state and a business license just to see IF its something I’m interested in and can manage financially).

Thanks.

Computer Builders – Please Help!?

I’m building a PC, and everything’s hooked up, but I can’t turn it on. The DELL case that I’m working on is from ’98, and has a 16 pin connector that controls the on/off/sleep functions, and powers the LED. The board I’m working on is an ASUS P4B, and has a 20 pin male power connector thing.

. . . . . .xx . . .
. . . . . .xx. . .
1111111112
1234567890

That’s the connector on the board. The four x’s are labeled PWRBTN. I’ve tried using pin jumpers from the old motherboard to connect the four pins in every single possible combination, but nothing happens. Yes, the power supply works, I can hear the capacitors charging when I plug it in.

Please show me a way to make the thing think that the power button is on all the time so I just have to unplug it to shut it off.

Thanks.
I can’t afford a new case guys, I just bought a a new guitar. Please, someone take five min. to think about this and try to figure out a way to emulate the power switch for the board. Is there a special logic sequence that the switch sends to the pins on the board that tells the thing to turn on? Is there a special way to jump the pins that I haven’t thought of yet?

Please! No $!
No green light, no fan, no anything.

Will a Vista Disk be necessary if getting a different motherboard and CPU?

I will be building a new PC with everything new except that I will be using the same Hard Drive on a currently working computer. Do I need to have the OS disk for it to work?I have experience with upgrading computer components but this is the first time a build one. I do have Vista disks but they were intended for the computers I purchased and were not made for computer builders. The computer’s hard drive I will be using has Vista Home Basic and I am not sure if changing all the computer components will require me to get a OS disk. Thanks for any info.If you need to know which computer components I will be using look at my other questions.

What good is a “peaceful Religion” if it doesn’t have the power to save your soul?

If it cannot save your soul, what good is it? Might as well join a peaceful crafts class.

The fact of the matter is, the name of Jesus is brings the most offense across the board, yet He is the only one who has the power to save our souls. Imagine that.

Jesus wasn’t the “flower child, new age Jesus” that some try to present Him as. He was a radical. He was anything but PC. He did not “hang out with sinners.” He ministered to sinners, and they were converted in His presence, They did not preach to Jesus that their sin wasn’t sin and He did not “accept them the way that they were”. He preached, they were changed, repented and were received.

He is the stone that the builders rejected.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-37:

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”
Does that sound “tolerant” and “PC” to you?
Dave P.
it is written in 1 Corinthians 1:18
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

You have proven this Scripture, written 2000 years ago, 100% accurate. Don’t you find that intriguing, especially in light of the specific context of your statement?
eagle_07- It appears that you misunderstood my question which resulted in misjudging my motive as a result. There are questions here at YA that ask people what the best religion is and derivatives of that question. My question is, what good are any of them, if they cannot save your soul? There is only ONE who can.

Jesus converted sinners. He did not wink at sin, He went to the cross for it. Jesus is God, (see John 1:1) God is not tolerant of sin, He has to judge it, that is why Jesus went to the cross, so that we have a choice as to whether we shall pay the penalty ourselves, or receive Christ’s payment on our behalf.

Did you hear what Jesus said, (quoted above in Matthew 10:34-37)?

Humble does not mean compromising Truth.

The “pc” jargon in the last of your reply can mean a lot of things. Most often I’ve found that it means “post modernism” and “relativism”, neither of which leads to the truth. How can one choose life, if they don’t know they are facing the death penalty?
There are plenty of people who will preach half the truth, or even preach another “gospel” telling people to “add Jesus” and he’ll bring you happiness and all kinds of other things that are not the Gospel and not the reason Jesus went to the cross. Many people who claim to be Christians today, think that Jesus had some good teachings, they like Him, but reject most of the Bible and they are not converted, they just have a “new religion”. Jesus is not their Lord, He is their “guru”. Jesus said “narrow is the way that leads unto life and there are few that will find it.” (See Matthew 7:13-14)

If you have any ideas on how to make it better or a little cheaper (or even both) please say how.
