This black version is too slow to be useful.

In addition, it does not support drives over 3TB. It's possible the pro version works (based on a post on the forum). Do not buy this if you want to put a 3TB drive on it. I have a HITACHI X-Series 3TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive 0S03092 and it is not recognized on any USB port. This was the reason I bought the pogoplug and it does not suit my purpose.

I don't often write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my intense dislike for Intuit's business model of constantly removing features and charging you more. The "subscription" to payroll costs more than the software. They have stripped even basic functionality - filling out your tax forms - from the 1-3 employee version, which is unconscionable. I've been using quickbooks since it's inception, not only do I not feel valued as a customer, but I also feel trapped.

To make matters worse, I had a subscription that ended at the end of the quarter, my taxes forms are due the next month, they will not even print the forms for the period I was covered.

If this could be rated with a negative number, I would do so.

PS it does what it says it will do for +/- 300/year!
violating the consumer - priceless!

If you are unlucky enough to receive a defective Pogoplug unit, you're stuck. Write it off. Forget it.

Pogoplug technical support's purpose is to stall until the warranty runs out. After 5 days of running me and my computer around with reloads, remote tests, and other busywork, nothing was resolved. The support people, Gali and Fiana in particular, have impeccable manners, great patience, pleasant correspondence styles, and no competence whatsoever. They simply ignore whatever they don't want to deal with. Repeated ALL CAPS messages will get them to admit that you exist.

My unit simply would not let my username online. No one else's either. I tried my own remedies for 2 days before contacting tech "service." When I did, they spent 5 days of email ping pong wasting my time. Since they are paid to stall, their time was well spent. I also bought the Premium software (the free version is actually crippleware) which I am stuck with now. No use for it. No refund.

It's also possible that a diagnostic procedure that Pogoplug uploaded to my computer conflicted with some of my non-pogo applications. If you notice hidden .ceid files all over your computer, you may be affected too.

I should have been suspicious about a company that refused for months to recall an earlier model, hundreds of which caught fire.

This is a review-in-progress, about a week into purchasing and setting up this device.

It says, on the box, that setup is a snap. Well.....It took the device a while, several days in fact, to get up to speed and to index the three hard drives I attached to it.

The software is buggy, it still has indexed only some of my photos, it can crash the browser on your computer, access can be s-l-o-w, I am sure there are still more surprises in store :-(

On the other hand, using the iPod app I can access the music tracks in my library from a remote location. This is a very nice feature indeed; yesterday morning I was enjoying Scarlatti harpsichord sonatas while drinking coffee at our local Panera. The remote music sharing feature is supposed to cost an additional $30, but for the time being, for me at least, it's working for free. Maybe the fact that Apple has just introduced their new operating system with remote streaming incorporated has convinced this company to make their comparable feature free...we shall see.

Since I was able to purchase the unit for under $50, I consider it a decent value for the money. Because of the bugs and erratic performance, I would not trust it in a life-or-death situation. It's good for musical entertainment, at any rate.

Unlike some other reviews which seem to come right from Intuit marketing I'm a real user. So I'm here today because the Basic Payroll only does tax tables. Gone are W-2, W-3, 940, and 941. I like how Intuit tells you to go see your accountant to fill out these forms (QB Basic Payroll). Kind of thought that's what QB function in life was, to reduce the need for an accountant. Kind of late for me to jump to a new program however Jan 1 of 2010 I'll no longer be dealing with this spiral cost increases and the pay more for less progression built into the Intuit product line. I'm not so old nor stupid to learn a new software package. Oh right the product review part.

QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll allows you to pay for features you could careless about. However you need not worry as Intuit will slowy remove features until you are forced into a new product line.

I seem to take a lot of toys and gadgets on vacation these days. While this adapter doesn't really cut down a lot on clutter that has to be packed, I have similar adapters (such as an IEC C7 adapter) for my other gadgets, and the cumulative difference does cut down on the volume of the stuff that needs packing. I am attempting to pack this stuff as light and as compact as possible, with all of the current luggage craziness these days.

This adapter will fit an Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook (and perhaps others). The IEC C5 connector on the netbook charger is commonly called a Mickey Mouse connector.

Replacing the standard 6ft cables with this adapter sure cuts down on the clutter that needs packing.

Yes, intuit software generally works the same way - you get used to it, then they remove features unless you "upgrade", soon those upgrades are required each year and cost more. Try another accounting package, you will appreciate it next year when it's time to buy next years required upgrades.

Why do software vendors feel the need to ruin a perfectly good application by making it more complex? Please, stop trying to add unnecessary features which are already duplicated in other applications. I prefer the older versions of ACT. I will allow that this version appears to be a bit more robust than earlier ones, but it is still very hard to "back up" onto external media. At any rate, I haven't found anything better, so I keep using ACT.
