does ipod nano and ipod 20 gb have solid state (no moving parts) as opposed to a hard drive?

My husband said that the Ipod nano has a solid state assemby (no moving parts)..but that the ipod 20 gb has a hard drive…which can move around and jiggle around, thus greater chance of breaking. Is this true? I want solid state as opposed to a movable hard drive.
