is there any program to scan your PC and find out your hardware description?

since my windows Vista was removed and i installed XP my XP don’t recognize some hardware, therefore i can’t get the drivers i need so i need an alternate program to scan this hardware and give me the description i need, thanks in advance!
how do I determine if a piece of computer hardware is failing on my laptop? Is there a program that will scan?

The reason I ask: My computer is slow even after a fresh install. How can I tell if say, the HDD is failing? Thanks for your help!

Sometimes my pc ‘screen goes all fuzzy and other times it gets green vertical lines on my screen (mainly when im playing online ), not to mention the frustration cos i have to reset cos it gets jammed .ive tried running a few anti virus and malware detecting programs , but im suspecting its a hardware problem .So i was wondering if theres any freeware that can scan hardware for faults ,maybe you guys can help me . Thanks in advance .

I suspect there is hardware failing somewhere in my computer and I was about to begin using the different test programs available for testing the different hardware components (like memtest), but I was wondering if anyone can suggest any good tools or programs that can run a full test of all PC hardware for potential and existing problems. Do there exist any single program that scans your hard drive, motherboard, system memory, and peripheral cards (video, audio, network, etc.) for potential and existing problems?
